Christmas Look 1

Hey guys,

I hope your all doing well, Paul is having loads of tests but is feeling ok in himself.

What I thought would be quite fun is to do some Christmas make up looks for you. Let's call it The 12 Days of Christmas Looks!
Everyday I will do you a different idea for this festive season.

Today I went rather traditional with Green. I created my base using the Fab 4. I have then used Tender from Addiction Palette 4 from the brow bone to the lashline. This is a light shimmery base to catch the eye and highlight the brow bone. I have then taken Splurge Cream Eyesgadow in the sgade Assertive to go from my lash line and blend into the crease. I do usher the look using our amazing EPIC mascara.

Love it! It has the feeling of evergreen and Christmas trees.

I hope you likes it.

How to clean your make up brushes

Hello everyone,

So today I wanted to share with you how I clean my make up brushes. I don't buy expensive brush cleaners or take ages mixing up a potion I use 3 simple ingredients.

  • Vegetable or Olive oil
  • Washing up liquid
  • Warm Water
So you can choose to use bowls as I did in my video  below or you can do it at the sink, both are effective it is just your personal preference. So do what is easiest for you!

Step 1: Take your chosen oil and pour it into a bowl. Start off with a small amount and add to it as you need to, this will minimise waste. Take your makeup brush and swirl it in the oil.

Step 2: Squeeze out the oil into the sink or into the bowl of warm water. You will see all the colour being pulled out of the brush with the oil. Repeat this until the oil is clear.

Step 3: Rinse your brush in warm water  until all the oil has gone. If you get to this stage and make up is coming out again, repeat steps 1-3 again.

Step 4: Lie the brushes on a towl or cloth and leave to dry naturally.

There you have it a quick and easy way to clean and healthy brushes!

I have started my own business!!!

Hello everyone,

I told you in the last post that I have started my own business. I am so excited to tell you all about it!

So my story so far.... November 2015 my friend started her own make up business and purely to support her I bought a range of products from her. However to my surprise I fell in love with them..

Now I say to my surprise because I am so so picky about my make up particularly foundation the colour has to be right no ' s***g' line!, i don't want it to make me sweat or break out in spots, it has to be easy to remove but stay in place all day. I had tried every brand out there and they all had something i didn't like ... or so I thought. With the this foundation it takes 5 drops to do my entire face, full coverage, it stays on all day with no transferring, it doesn't clog my pores and make me sweat, its good for my skin so no break outs and the colour is PERFECT!!! To top it all I have only just had to buy another one so that's 1 years worth of coverage from 1 bottle!

The next item I tried was the mascara no the first formula i didn't get on so well with as i thought it was a little clumpy and you had to have the full on 'false lash look' the new formula is buildable one coat gives you 500% more length and volume 2 coats is 900% and so on. I have the long lashes I had always wanted. It stays on through sweat, wind, rain and even tears! It looks perfect and just like all their make up stays on all day but just wipes away at the end of the day no scrubbing or scraping off.

So after using these products for a year I wouldn't use any other products. Now I was traveling to work 52 miles and 60 minutes each day and it was straining me. I loved my job but the change in team and the group attitude/ goals was making my daily life hard. My ME was catching up with me because of my long hours and stress and I was about to break. That's when the idea of starting my own business came to me, two of my friends have also started their own business and one of them was earning twice my salary every month and the other matching mine. I thought if they can do this why can't I? I love make up and beauty so if I can do what I love and earn a living why wait?

So in January I took the plunge! I earnt over £150 in my first online party and around £100 in free product credit. I thought wow this can really work! I am going through my training and just sharing what I love and how it works for me. One day I will do this as my full time job and I will share this amazing opportunity with other people!

Any comments or questions or want to know more let me know below:-

Hey everyone. I wanted to share my everyday make up routine.

I start off by applying my foundation, at the moment I am using NO7 Stay perfect (new formula) in the shade cameo.

Then I set the foundation and get rid of any shininess with the Rimmel Clear complexion powder in transparent. I apply this with a kabuki brush.

I then start on my eye make up.

I prime my eyes with the Urban Decay primer potion.Apply this to the entire eye from the brow bone to the eyelash line.

I start off by applying virgin to my entire eye. Secondly apply toasted to the crease, then I contour the outer eye with hustle. Lastly I apply half-baked to the lid.

Then I apply my mascara today it is waterproof false lash effect mascara. I always apply two coats but let the first one dry before applying the next.

There you go, a complete look done in minutes. If you want to know the brushes I use etc please just ask.

This weeks Boots Star Gift: 1st November

Hey everyone, this week’s Boots star offer is Ted Baker: The Great and the Gorgeous Cosmetic Gift Set. This is a fabulous gift set with everything you need to create a gorgeous look, be it soft daytime beauty or full-on night-time glamour.

The kit contains two lip crayons in pink and plumb. These crayons have small enough tips to line the lip perfectly but are long and thick enough to cover lips in seconds. I would use the pink for daytime, as it’s light and simple but also adds a splash of colour to the face. I would use the plumb for a night out the deep colour gives your lips a look of plump sumptuousness. The kit contains four makeup brushes 1 a fine brush for eye shadow contouring, 2 an eye shadow applicator this will be great for applying the eye glitter 3 a slanted brush great for shading in the crease of  the eye and 4 the blending brush to blend out the eye shadow to avoid stark lines between colours. The eyeliner pen is fab, you simply draw on your line, if you’re not too confident do it lightly and go over again and again bit by bit until you get the perfect line.

The next item is the false eye lashes, Ted Baker have got these just right. They are soft enough to be worn for work but long and thick enough to be noticed at night for an evening out. They are very lightweight so you forget you’re wearing them! The eye cream is in a cream colour! It is very pigmented and sticks to the eye even without a primer. Alone it is shimmery and neutral but combine it with the light pink eye shadow glitter and you’re ready to shine on the dance floor. Then we have the bronzing  compact, these gold brown tones give great colour to contour the fact or a warm glow to the cheeks.

We have two nail varnishes pale pink or sparkling gold. You can wear either off these separately for day or night but why not combine them for a fantastic nail art fusion. Last but not least we have the illuminating liquid in pearly pink and warm gold. These can be used to highlight the eyes or face.
This fabulous gift set: The Great and the Gorgeous  by Ted Baker is usually £40 but from today until Thursday 7th November you can pick this up for only £19 !!! THAT’S A SAVING OF £21!! If this is perfect for you or a great gift for a friend or relative get yourself down to a large Boots store or order at boots.com.

Urban Decay- NAKED Palette

I know I am a bit behind the times on the beauty range revolution, due to long working hours and tragically no shopping time but while on holiday I allocated shopping time and visited The Florida Mall.

I came across the Urban Decay Naked Palette, I had heard about how good the quality of the brand was so I bought one. Oh my goodness! The texture and quality of these eyeshadows is phenomenal! Usually I have to reapply eye shadow several times a day as it never seems to stick. However with the Naked Palette it looked as fresh when I came to take it off, as when I first applied it.

I bought the palette with the small bottle of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. This little cream is a big miracle in a tiny bottle. The primer evens out the skin and gives the perfect base for the eyeshadow to stick to.

The outside of the palette is a luxurious dark brown velvet with gold lettering.Inside the palette is mirror on the bottom of the lid and then a gold housing for the eyeshadows and brush.

Each shadow has a very imaginative name name as follows:-

Virgin- This is a very light base colour that once on the skin looks  like a very light silver.

Sin- This is still very light but a warm shimmery gold tint, again a good base colour.

Naked- This is a matte light brown I have used this as a base or for contouring when using a light colour range.

Sidecar- This is a medium brown shimmer eyeshadow, I like to use this on the lid for day wear as its a strong enough colour for impact but not to overpowering for work.

Buck- This  is a chocolate coloured matte shadow, I have used this as a contour with a shimmer on the lid for a lunch date with friends or for work. This is a lot more subtle on the eye than it looks on the palette.

Half Baked- This is one of my favorite shadows in this palette. It is a shimmery gold with caramel brown undertones. I love this as my main lid colour for day or night.

Smog- This is a very sexy colour and gives a smoldering smokey eye perfect for a night out or date.

DarkHorse- This is a dark chocolate shimmer shadow, I have not used it yet but it has lots of depth in the colour and would be high impact on the lid.

Toasted-  Another of my favorites this is a coffee brown shimmer shadow with bronze undertones. I use this as a contouring colour in the day and a lid colour at night.

Hustle- This is a dark brown shimmer shadow with a purple undertone. I have used this as a lid colour for day mixed with buck to soften it a little.

Creep- This is a black shadow with silver flecks in it. I have  used this for a dramatic smokey eye. The colour is so pigmented it can be blended out to grey.

Gunmetal- I have used this Silver shadow for contouring, main lid colour and with Creep for a smokey eye.

If you have not brought this product you are missing out! These can be found in most town centers in the Debenhams department stores.

Make up Monday- Big beautiful eyes

Step 1
Groom your eyebrows. Remember your eyebrows from your eyes and so they affect the way your eyes look. Even just tidying up the edges by removing stray hairs can make your eyes more noticeable.
Step 2
Get rid of bags and reduce any puffiness in your eyes  as any swelling around the eye will make them look smaller. Try these  handy tips  to reduce puffiness:
·         Get plenty of sleep.
·         Wash your face with cool water.
·         Place cold, used teabags over your eyes. The tannins in the tea act as an astringent, tightening the skin.
·         Reduce your salt intake. Too much salt leads to water retention, which leads to eye puffiness.
·         Exercise to increase circulation, which in turn reduces water retention.
Step 3
Long eyelashes make your eyes appear wider and add a bit of highlighter. To make your eyelashes look longer try the following:-
·         The white eyeliner tip also helps make eyes look bigger, also don't line all the way along your bottom lashes if you do use a dark liner, only go half way from outer to below the center of the pupil.
·         Curl your upper eyelashes with an eyelash curler.
·         Apply mascara.
·         Apply false eyelashes.

Maxfactor False Lash Effect,Maybeline- Bronze Drama

Make-up Monday's here again and I must share how pleased I am with two of my make-up purchases for my new years resolutions make-up routine.

First up: Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara I do not have incredibly long or thick lashes but I love the glamour  full long lashes creates. I have searched for a mascara that can give me my longed for look and at long last I have found one!Maxfactor False Lash Effect gives me everything I want that mother nature did not provide. This mascara gives volume and length from root to tip by wrapping each lash.
Second to take the floor is : Maybelline Silk Glam Bronse Drama by Eyestudio
This eye shadow is flawless, I personally apply with a brush but this comes with a dual-ended applicator either of these applies colour evenly onto the lids, leaving you with the perfect coverage. I cannot put into words how great the texture of this eyeshadow is the  wet technology produces a creamy, soft shadow loaded with up to 50% gem-like sparkles, which gives a dramatic sheen. The colour lasts all day and has loads of combinations and effects.

My Must-haves for 2012

For me January is a month of reflection partially because its my birthday month- which naturally makes me think of the past year. I really found my love of beauty and make-up this year so I want to share with you my favorites that I must have. It has been a hard decision but here are what I feel are the best items for 2012.

Razor: Gillette Venus Embrace

This Razor is great, I like a close shave and with 5 blades and built in moisture strip delivers the close shave I require without any cuts.  The sent is light and fresh and my skin feels silky smooth.  I like the fact that These come with a handy shower pod.

Body Butter: Body Shop Coco Butter
This is so luxurious. I have dry skin and the tops of my arms can get very very dry along with my knw=ees and elbows. This butter helps allot as  it soaks into the skin making it smooth and revitalized without the after greasiness.  I also love the smell of this product, the coconut makes me think of summer and brightens my mood.

Eye shadow: Body Shop Shimmer Cube Warm

I love this pallet  as it has so many colour combinations. They are completely blend-able, I can have a smoky eye, a bronze goddess shimmer or a natural day look. They are highly pigmented and last all day without re application. They are very easy to apply and very blend-able.  The other thing I like about them is they are easy to remove one wipe or a dab of cleanser and it's gone.

Mascara: Rimmel Glam Eyes

This mascara gives a natural look, no clumps or smudges under the eyes. I get a well defined from waterline to tip black lash. As the bottle says you get a very glamorous effect.

Dry Shampoo: Batiste Brunette

We all have those days when we don't have time to wash our hair, this shampoo can give your hair the lift and refresh it needs. This has no sent and does not leave your hair white!

Tool: Eye Shadow Blender Brush

As you have probably guessed by now I love the smoky eye look and this brush can give me that look time after time, no matter what the eye shadow. It is soft and non irritating. The best thing about this brush is the quality I have never seen a bristle fall out!

Well bring on 2013 and making new must have items.

Home manicure

We all like well cared for beautiful nails but not all of us can afford the high price tag that the salons charge. Why not do your own? Below is my step by step guide on how to give yourself a fabulous manicure in the comfort of your own home at a fraction of the cost.

Step1 Remove nail polish
It is very important to remove any old nail polish to start a fresh clean layer, just like cleansing your face. I use nail polish remover and cotton pads. Try and use a mild remover and unless you use it once a month, don't use a nail polish remover with acetone in it. Acetone might make removing the nail polish easier, but it can damage your nails

Step 2 Cut and file nails.
I use nail clippers to trim your nails just like your hair this will encourage new stronger nails. Using a nail file, file the nail gently in one direction to create a smooth and clean shape. Excessive force or filing back and forth will weaken the nails and cause them to break.

Step 3 Push back or remove cuticles and buff nails.
Remove the cuticles, they not firmly attached and should come off easily. I use a cuticle remover tool it is so easy to use and gives me fast results without ages of pushing back with the rubber end. Using a nail buffer, buff the surface of the nail to smooth out ridges.

Step 4 Soak nails
Get a bowl or fill the sink luke-warm water. Soak your hands for a few minutes. The water will loosen dirt, dead skin, and any dust left over from filing and buffing. Gently scrape under your nails if necessary to remove.

Step 6 Moisturise
Use any lotion or hand cream and massage it into your hands, concentrate around the nails and knuckles.  Leave this to soak in for about 30 mins, remove any excess with a towel.

Step 7 Prepare and base coat
Nail polish will not stick to the nails with moisturiser on them, so take a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover and quickly wipe over the nails to remove the lotion. Apply the  base coat.  This will help the polish to last longer, and keep the colour from staining your nails.

Step 8 Polish
Choose a nail polish that you really like. Roll the nail polish bottle between your hands for about 10 seconds to make sure it is mixed. Start painting your nails with a thin layer. Slowly paint a vertical stripe down the centre of your nail, followed by another stripe on either side. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for the polish to dry. After the first coat has dried fully, apply a second coat.

Step 9 Top coat
To complete our manicure apply a clear top coat for a protective layer over the polish to help it last longer and in good condition.

My new make-up routine

As mentioned in my new years resolution blog I have decided to start a make-up routine and do it everyday. I am not a morning person  and as I already have to get up early as it takes me 1.45hrs to get to work (2 buses), my make-up needs to be quick yet effective.

Step1: Foundation

Maybelline dream fresh BB cream in Universal Glow. I apply this all over my face apart from my eyes. Don’t be shocked when you start off it looks bright orange but as its name suggests it is universal and will blend into your skin as you apply.

Step2: Concealer

Maybelline super stay 24hr concealer in 2 (light beige). I apply this under my eyes to eliminate dark circles and on any spots or blemishes. I dab this onto the area and pat until blended.

Step3:Powder

Rimmel London clear complexion in 021 (transparent). I apply this all over my face to set my foundation. I concentrate on my T-zone as I have combination skin and this is where I will get oil build  up.

Step4 Contouring

Mua make-up academy mosaic. I will apply this on my temples, under my cheek-bones and under my jaw line making sure to blend down my neck.

Step5:Eye shadow

Maybelline eyestudio silky glam bronze drama. Using from the left. Apply the first shadow over the whole eye as a base. Second shadow sweep across the lid. Shadow 3 apply to the crease and blend. Shadow 4 apply along the top lash line and into the corner and along the bottom lash line
Step6: Eyeliner

BarryM Khol pencil. This liner is nice and soft and very easy to use. Draw a line along the top lash line into the corner and draw a line from the outer corner to the middle of the lower lash line. Using a small blending brush add a little of Shadow 4 over the top this will soften the liner and blend into the shadow.

Step7: Mascara
Maxfactor false lash effect fusion volume + length.  I usually do two coats of mascara just to make sure all my lashes are covered and also get a little bit more length.

That is everything, I am now ready to face the day.
