Feel good autumn outfit

We all have those days when we need a little comfort and I am strong believer that what you wear can help counteract how your feeling. I have put this out fit together because this is the sort of thing I like to wear at the weekend, after a long hard week when I want to relax and enjoy myself.

A good pair of jeans is always a good start when cheering yourself up, they are comfortable but still ooze effortless style.

A splash of colour is great for brightening your mood- this classy lace top is long sleeved so keeps out the draft but also if the heating is a little warm this will keep you at the right temperature. Lace is very in this season and this piece will not go out of fashion-  perfect to mix and match .

                     http://www.chiarafashion.co.uk/beige-short-sleeve-knitted-jumper-top.html

I love this jumper its a soft fabric but keeps you nice and snug. I don't always like things round my neck so this is the perfect height, with the short sleeves you will still be able to see the gorgeous red-lace of the under-top too.

Ugg boots I do not actually own a pair but man do I want some. Like wearing slippers out doors, don't listen to rumors that these can not be worn in the wet- buy the waterproofing and care kit- problem solved!

Choosing your wedding theme

Weddings are more than parties they are the celebration of your marriage the joining of two lives. I believe a wedding is the most important celebration of my life and so I want to give it the thought and respect it deserves.

We know what colours we want for our wedding and a wedding palette is very important for putting together a polished wedding design. But when it comes to putting across the meaning of our wedding day you need more than colour. Your theme is where you add the meaning to your wedding and tell a story for your day.

When creating your wedding theme, the best place to start is to ask yourself   ‘What is your vision for your wedding day?’ What are your guests wearing? Are they partying all night long? Or chatting comfortably by candlelight? Remember this vision in mind this will help you focus on the mood and maybe even the style of your wedding day and therefore be important in making your choices.

Aspects to consider when building a theme :-

  • ·         Your personal style- modern, vintage, classic or very individual
  • ·         Do you want to incorporate your family’s culture, that of your future spouse, or one that you are drawn too?
  • ·         Family traditions
  • ·         Hobbies and interests
  • ·         Do you have something you like to do as a couple

Now you need to choose 2 or these ideas into a theme. For instance, you are getting married in Italy, you love the romance of Phantom of the Opera, and you want your wedding day to be a true celebration of love.
In that case your wedding theme could be: an Opulent Romantic Italian wedding.

5 pounds lost-and how housework helps to loose weight

Sad as it is I am pleased to say this week I have lost 5 pounds, I have lost 1 or 2 pounds a week before I have not lost this much before. PCOS does make it really hard to loose weight but it is possible girls so keep it up.

We all like a clean tidy house and I know I wouldn’t mind having the body of Kim Kardashian so why not combine these two.Cleaning the house burns calories thus a cleaner house and loose weight.Exactly how many calories are we burning while scrubbing? Here’s a approximate list of  how many calories we burn per cleaning activity per hour:

·         Sweeping: 240
·         Packing/Unpacking: 220
·         Scrubbing floors on hands and knees: 325
·         Dusting and light activities ( wiping down kitchen, picking up clothes): 100
·         Cleaning in general (washing-up, doing laundry): 200
·         Cleaning hard work (vacuuming, hanging laundry, repetitive bending over): 260
·         Looking after Children: 205
·         Digging: 415
·         Raking lawn: 235
·         Mowing lawn: 325
·         Moving large household item: 400
·         Cooking: 150
·         Food shopping: 90

Weekend make-up look-

As you know I received my glossy box on Thursday and I decided to use the Dr.Jart BB cream. I am very impressed with the packaging- its fresh clean and looks very high-end. The colour looks quite light at first but blends in perfectly.  The moisturising action really comes through  my skin seems smooth and moist but not greasy. In this horrid winter weather the  sunscreen is not needed. As a foundation this worked well covering the spots on my chin and evened out the skin tone. Made with 50 percent water, the Advanced Water Bead Technology helps hydrate and maintain healthy moisture this gave me a nice  fresh look

I used  Rimmel Soft Khol Kajal Eyeliner I like this because it is soft enough to use on my eyes and hard enough to cut a nice line. You can layer this do have a dark line or smudge for a grey or smoky effect.

For eye shadow I used the works pastel colours cream on thee top with purple below. This was a gift from a friend and thank you very much because the texture is great and the colors have a good staying power no need for reapplication.

Glossybox November 2012

My first Glossybox arrived today and I am very pleased with its contents. The theme for this box is stocking fillers; the aim is to give inspiration on what to get loved ones for Christmas. All the items sound very luxurious and the sizes are generous.

Dr..Jart+ Water Fuse BB Balm. This BB cream is  multifunctional it gives an even skin tone, minimises imperfections, rehydrates, repairs damaged skin and protects from UVA/ UVB rays. I am excited to try this cream  and see if it really can do all the things it claims. Sample size 15ml- full size 50ml £18

WEI Beauty White Lotus Hydrating Face Treatment pads. Instantly hydrate your skin, revitalise lifeless skin and leave you looking fresh and dewy. Sample size is 1 pad- full size 6 pads £55

Alison Claire Natural Beauty Mango Body Butter-  An all-natural organic blend of mango and cocoa  butters good enough for even the most sensitive of skin. This smells divine!,  I put a small dot on the back of my hand and it soaked in beautifully, its non-greasy and has left my hand smooth and hydrated.  Sample size 50ml- full size 200ml £15

Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat- this looks very bright in the bottle but we will see what it is like on the nail. The formula seems thick enough so give good coverage but thin enough to dry quickly. Sample size 4ml- full size 10ml £11

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant- A rice based powder that gently exfoliates skin, removing dead cells leaving skin smoother and brighter. Sample size 13g- full size 75g  £38.50

I am very pleased with this Glossy box not only does it contain products I would  not ordinarily buy but is exactly what I need for the  harsh winter weather.  A very important thing to note is that Glossy box costs £10  plus  p+ p the value of these samples is £30 that’s fab value for money!

Clear, glowing skin even with PCOS

Spots is something I have only had for about 5 years, I didn't have a single pimple all through childhood and my teens but at the age of 20 I suddenly started getting  spots on  my  chin and forehead.  At this point my hormones had really rocketed causing a type of acne   directly linked to PCOS.

We need to work from the inside out make sure  you eat your  five  a day   of fresh fruits and vegetables.  The vitamins and minerals will give skin the power to repair the damaged skin as well as fighting to stop more appearing. Drink at least 10 glasses of water every day to flush out toxins and revitalize the skin.

Invest in a proper beauty regimen ( no baby wipes are not good enough!). I use simple face wipes to remove make-up they contain Vitamin B5 which helps restore, soften and smooth the skin, they are free of alcohol, oil, perfume, and dyes. They are safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. They even remove my waterproof mascara.

Next cleanse the skin to remove dead skin cells, which clogs pores, which can cause spots , and then it  prepares your skin for toner.

A toner returns your skin's pH back to normal allowing the skin to absorb moisturizers  Toner re balances the oil in your skin- the correct level of oil is vital as  oil keeps your skin waterproof and resistant to infection. Too little oil and you could have dry skin (which can lead to wrinkles).

Finally moisturize  moisturizer is a combination of oil, cream and plant extracts, they are enriched in nutritional elements that basically, keep your skin soft, smooth, and hydrated.
If you follow these simple steps you should see a vast improvement  in your spots and the general condition of your skin.  For me personally by following these steps I now have clear skin and a healthy glow. Every so often I give my face a treat with a nourishing  mask.

How to pack a suitcase

As I am sure you are all aware by now I have my dream holiday coming up next year to Florida. One of the things I am going to optimise is luggage. I will not be taking any clothes with me because I am going on a mega shopping spree while I am over there as clothes are so cheap!  So I am writing you a guide on how to pack your suitcase to get the most out of your space.

Prioritize, prioritize and prioritize. To avoid ironing on your trip you'll want to keep clothes in perfect, crease-free condition. The best way to do this is to pack effectively and work with the space you have. No matter how good your packing skills you should always remember to wear your bulkiest items, if you need a jacket or coat wear/carry it while you travel. If you’re taking more than one pair of shoes wear the heavier pair.

Layer items eg begin with a skirt folded over the bar of a hanger, and then hang a top on the hanger. A shirt can go over that, and a jacket over the shirt.

Overlapping is a fine art- it is important not to fold any item too many times. To keep delicate clothes from wrinkling, fold them around padded items like jumpers and woolly cardigans. Place the top half of a pair of jeans in your suitcase, place a jumper over that, and fold the legs up over the jumper.

My favourite method of packing is rolling. You can roll more than one item together at once eg a strap top, on top of a t-shirt with a cardigan on top. Make use of those corners- curve rolled items into the corners. This method is also great for trousers, jeans and shorts.

To avoid lotion explosion fill travel-size plastic bottles partway, or if using full sized items squeeze out excess air. Then double-bag them, first in a cosmetics bag or resalable food bag, then in a carrier bag. Everyone knows this but stuff shoes with underwear and socks etc

If you run out of room here is a quick tip to give you a little more space: Drop the bag/case on the floor a few times, open it -- things will have settled, and you'll find extra room.

I will remember them

Today it is Remembrance Sunday and I don't know if you know why we celebrate it when we do or if your from outside the UK what it is we celebrate. Remembrance Sunday, is the second Sunday in November this day is traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to symbolize the end of World War One, hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

In the United Kingdom,  we have a  two minutes of silence on 11 November itself, the start and end of the silence is marked by the firing of a cannon but we also have the main observance on the second Sunday of November, this is called Remembrance Sunday. Ceremonies are held at local war memorials, usually organized by local branches of the Royal British Legion, an association for ex-servicemen. Typically, poppy wreaths are laid by representatives of the Crown, the armed forces, and local civic leaders, as well as by local organizations including ex-servicemen organizations, cadet forces, the Scouts, Guides, Boys' Brigade, St John Ambulance and the Salvation Army
Members of the Reserve Forces and cadet organizations have marches similar to parades, other organisations participate in the marching such as, volunteers from St John Ambulance, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, and conflict veterans from World War II, Korea, the Falklands, the Persian Gulf, Kosovo, Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Iraq, other past conflicts and the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan. After the main service in London,  there is a parade of veterans, who also lay wreaths at the foot of the Cenotaph as they pass, and a salute is taken by a member of the Royal Family at Horse Guards Parade. The main national commemoration is held at Whitehall, in Central London, for dignitaries, the public, and ceremonial detachments from the armed forces and civilian uniformed services such as the Merchant Navy and Her Majesty's Coastguard. Members of the British Royal Family walk through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office towards the Cenotaph, assembling to the right of the monument to wait for Big Ben to strike 11:00 a.m. Before the marching commences, the members of the Royal Family and public sing the national anthem.

I am very grateful for each and every soldier that fights for my freedom and my country, that enables me to live my life without fear, to be able to dream and to have the right to choose. I am grateful that our service men and women go all over the globe to stand for whats right and to fight for others to be treated fairly and to help other countries to build equality in their own land.

Metal Rush nail polish by Rimmel

Rimmel have just released a new collection of nail polishes for autumn, called 'Metal Rush'. There are four shades- Royal Blue, Pearly Queen, Purple Reign and Gold save the Queen. The duochrome effect, is quite strong in all of the polishes, but most powerful in Purple Reign. These metailic nail polishes feature innovative technology so that the colour changes depending on how the light hits them.

Royal Blue a combination of two of my favorite polish colors purple and blue. This polish looks as good on the nail as it does in the bottle. This is a such a versatile polish that can be used at work or for a night out great for any season.

Purple rain this is the darkest colour but it is so sexy and sultry. The colour is  deep, rich and warm mostly purple but it has red and gold hints . The duochrome in this one is much more subtle than in the other shades.

This was the lightest shade and the sheerest, it still only took 3 coats to achieve amazing depth and colour. It went from a purple/pink colour to a light green, very pearlescent. This colour could also be used to lighten a dark colour or to add shimmer to a more flat colour.

Last but not least is 'Gold save the Queen'.  The duochrome is really pretty and goes from a dusky gold colour to a pink and green. I think this is quite a unique colour, for my collection. This colour is great with brown and autumn shaded outfits.

Overall I  think that this collection is a winner, its a cheaper brand at only £3.99 each invest in these girls they will last a long time and have a timeless colour for any style. Which one will you try?

Boots to suit your legs

I usually walk to work in trainers then change into shoes or heels at work but this adds unnecessary time to the beginning and end of the day. The solution is to buy boots I can walk to work in them and wear them at work. Like anything in fashion not everything suits everyone, so you need to choose things that are right for your body.

Stiletto heels with their long slim heel and overall thin shape are best for people with slim calves and ankles. lipsy-arista-stiletto-boots

Stacked heels are better for pear or curvy shapes. If you have thicker hips, thighs or ankles these are for you.

Wedge heels are good for everyone, they can be narrow (look at the profile from the back) and suit slimmer shapes, or wider, and suit curvier shapes.

Knee high boots are great for everyone, they make your legs look longer and  slimmer, but if you have shorter legs, avoid those with lots of buckles, straps or other horizontal details as they make legs look wider.knee-high

Ankle length boots can be worn by anyone under trousers, but if you want to wear them with skirts/dresses, they need to fit closely at the ankle.ankle

Now you know what is best for your body type here are sone general tips on how to choose the right pair:-

· If you're serious about finding a comfortable pair that compliments your wardrobe and makes you look and feel great, you should shop around before making your final pick.
· Wear the socks or tights you will normally use when wearing the boots. The thickness is very important if you want to avoid blisters!

·Give your toes some space. If your feet feel squashed now imagine how much they will hurt after a shopping trip or a day at work
· Think about how you plan to wear your boots. If you would just like a pair for special occasions , then you can probably cope with some discomfort in the name of style. If you plan on wearing them on a daily basis, then the priority for me would be comfort and practicality.
·  Look at the workmanship of the boots. Strong seams, solid soles and a firmly attached heal may raise the price by a few pounds, but they will be more likely to stand the test of  time.
